Exploring The Extraordinary
Exploring how motion can embody emotion, this project challenged me to visually express the word extraordinary through dynamic typography. Inspired by Pentagram’s exploration of the same theme, the goal was to move beyond static design and create something immersive, impactful, and memorable.
Challenge
Convey the feeling of the word “extraordinary” through motion, using typography, rhythm, and transformation. Inspired by Pentagram’s work, I wanted to craft something that evoked awe and surprise through timing and movement.
Approach
I began by sketching ideas that emphasized buildup and visual rhythm. After developing an animatic to test timing, I explored exaggerated motion — scale, rotation, distortion — to amplify the transition from extra to ordinary.
Reflection
This project pushed my understanding of how typography + motion create meaning. It sharpened my attention to pacing, timing, and emotional impact in motion design — and how pushing boundaries can elevate a single word into an experience." on my project page under my motion piece
